When working with children, we use Child Centred Play Therapy as our main modality. Child centred play therapy is a relationship-based counselling modality which helps children communicate their inner experience through the use of toys and play. Play is the natural language of children and toys are their words. Given the right therapeutic environment a child can begin to make sense of their inner world working through deep emotional fears, wounds and experiences. The therapeutic relationship between the child and therapist provides a safe space which enables growth and healing to occur.
Play Therapy is used with children aged 3+ and is an effective intervention for many presenting concerns such as:
- Trauma
- Anxiety
- School Difficulties
- Confidence and Self Esteem
- Selective Mutism
- ADD/ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Family Separation & Loss
- Bullying
- Grief & Loss
- Phobias
- Emotion Regulation
- Development Delays
- Chronic Illness
